Online Film Workshops
"Keep Your Kid Busy (and Learning) with These 10 Easy Remote Filmmaking Projects" - I love the Upper West Side
Since March we have been teaching filmmaking remotely to hundreds of kids, from NYC all the way to Poland! And now we've developed the perfect summer courses to excite and inspire young movie-makers. We blend live group lessons with access to our exclusive video tutorials, while setting aside time for one-on-one work with each kid. With camps geared towards first time filmmakers and weekly themes to challenge returning students, there's something for everyone! See our calendar below for all Online Film Camp options.
Summer Film Camps Online
This online workshop is perfect for kids just starting to make their own movies or even returning students who want to brush up on their skills and work on a collaborative project. Each day of the week guides kids through the stages of filmmaking from pre to post production. We start with a brainstorming and script writing session with groups of 5 or fewer kids working together on a short film. Then we cover storyboarding and camera angles to give kids the skills they need to shoot on their own. We finish with a tutorial for our online editing platform that gives all students access to the same project. On Friday we host a virtual screening party for kids and their families! Classes run from 9:00 to 11:30 am with a 15 minute snack/stretch break and fun film-centric games to break up the day. Afternoons are left open to give kids the chance to work on their scenes at their own pace. Enrollment includes complimentary access to our online learning platform with all of our video tutorials. Each session ends with an amazing kid-created masterpiece for you to share with friends and family!
9:00 am-11:30 am
Intro to Filmmaking
The Advanced Filmmaking online workshop is open to students who have completed a previous course with us. Children should be comfortable writing, filming and editing on their own (with our guidance) and ready to push their skills to the next level! Each week features a skill or theme to inspire kids to create their own personal short film. We start with 90 minute lessons in the morning that will lead to daily challenges. In the afternoon (we’ll work with your schedule as much as possible), each camper gets 20 minutes of one-on-one time with our teachers to further polish their work. At the end of the week each kid will have written and shot their own short film (siblings and friends in the same session are welcome to collaborate if desired).

"Thank you so much for your great instruction over the past 9 days. The final product is really impressive and even more so given the fact they that filmed in 3 separate locations! I think the kids all gained some new skills from the class and most importantly, they had fun doing it."
